Why?

Yesterday Jessica from Lovely Little Things asked me why I chose to teach Middle School.

This made me start thinking. After 5 months of teaching it was kinda hard to remember. After thinking about this for a while I dusted off the passion in the back of my soul and remembered.

I remembered that I had a KICK BUTT 8th grade history teacher who made me love history, school and myself. I want to be that teacher for someone.

I remembered that I am bit sarcastic and that would probably make a 7 year old cry. Normally I dont aim for crying children.

I remembered that I wanted to make the kid who sits in the back of the class and thinks they aren't noticed, well I want them to know they are noticed.

I remembered that I didn't learn what I needed to learn in middle school and I didn't want other kids to be doomed to the same fate come 9th grade.

I remembered that middle school has 6+ classes so if one particular kid was, oh lets just say it DRIVING ME CRAZY, they leave after 45 mins and we get a fresh start the next day.

I remembered that honestly, I LOVE the awkwardness of the middle school years.

Thank Jessica for making me remember why I wanted to wake up at 5:too early and work till 7: I should really have a life.

YES! Reason 2, 3, and 5 made my day!
haha - especially 5 ;)

Elementary is on my heart, but I've always wondered what it would be like to teach middle school since so many people kinda stay away from it. Good to see that you embrace the awkwardness ;)

Happy Monday!

xo,
Jessica

Awww, I miss teaching middle school. I currently teach 9th,10th, and 12th graders and they just not as cute and amusing!
