Airports & Smell The Roses

I have a love affair with the airport.
and it all started here with this movie.
This is my favorite movie.

"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often, it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaking suspicion... love actually is all around."

There is just something intriguing to me about the people in an airport.
Where are they going? Why?
Are the coming? Going?
Are the leaving someone they love? Or going back to someone they miss?
so many questions… so much people watching

I sat in the airport yesterday reading, watching people drift in an out of starbucks and basked...

I could have basked in the fact that people INSIST that you get there 2+ hours before your flight (ploy to get you to buy more starbucks)
I could have basked in the fact that the lady sitting 3 rows over WAS SO STINKING LOUD. In case you were wondering she had a bronchitis last week and is still feeling its effects.
Or I could have basked in the fact that it was POURING down rain and -8 in the terminal.

But instead I decided to bask in the romantic qualities of the airport the love, the longing the finally returning home.

Thanks Hugh Grant.

Smell the Roses!
This week's task from my blog bff jess was to tell three people who constantly impact your life how great they are and how much you cherish and appreciate them.

I have three girls in my life that will ALWAYS be my best friends, have my back and tell me when im making a dumb decision.

we live in 4 different cities and the best way (and most HILARIOUS way)to communicate is though group texting.
were awkward and we know itttttt
It was only appropriate that I stopped and told them how much I love, cherish and appreciate them though our favorite means of communication.

Lovely Little Things
Thanks Jess I always find your tasks so perfectly timed :)

I would also like to add that I feel like a WAY better blogger this week simply for the fact that I am blogging from South Carolina… May there blogger sparkle continue to rub off on me!

I do not at all like airports. Or airplanes for that matter! Last holiday season, I was in between 6 airports and it was just awful! I must say, the worst was Atlanta. It's ginormous, and they have trains that have to take you to other terminals. I'm surprised I didn't get lost before my flight! Glad you enjoy them though!

MEG! I have never been on a plane - what is wrong with me?!

But I still love airports! Sometimes a group of us will go sit at the airport for dinner just to people watch - best place EVER to do that. I've never seen Love Actually so I need to get on that, too. Maybe I'll watch it while I'm ON my first plane ride this summer...eeeek!

Group texting = best thing about all of your friends having an iPhone. Seriously the most fun conversations EVER. And most awkward conversations either. but with best friends, awkward = fun anyway ;)

OKAY I love you so much and I so hope that you are having a blast in, please!

Okay, I must be sniffing out your Blog BFF-ness with Jess, because I JUST referenced "Love Actually" in my comment on her post which I read just before yours. No joke! Go check it out!

Anyway, I love your post and I love that movie with the major exception of Keira Knightley's character's storyline. That whole thing just needs to GO! I feel so passionately about how wrongly it was handled. I'm not kidding!

Happy spring, and happy Monday!

Hello to a fellow teacher. :) I LOVE airports. For a long time, I always longed to be KISSED in the middle of the airport- my husband was the first (and only) one to claim that title! Your friends are too cute. My friends and I have "attractive poses" which are probably equally as awkward looking as they are "attractive." :)

I love people watching at the airport too! Do you try to figure out what they're going and what they're doing? I'm flying out of South Carolina on Monday and I'll definitely be watching ppl the whole time.
