Weekend Love: Shreveport Farmers Market

When I walked up to the pavilion overflowing with colorful leafy vegetables and succulently ripe fruit my heart couldn't help but skip a beat. Basically I am obsessed. Farmers markets are my new favorite thing. I walked out for under $20 (plus breakfast... hello beignets) my arms aching under the weight of a good 8 pounds of fresh locally grown fruits and veggies!

Then if you follow me on instagram (which you should and can do that here) I got my cook on.
After I was done with the 6 things I was making with my various market fair the kitchen looked as if Rachel Ray and I got in a fight ... and I lost. I did take a picture but I wont spare you the crime scene.

What I do have for your viewing pleasure are some pictures from the market taken with my new camera!

Beignets and Coffee. YES PLEASE!

The sweet group of string players strumming songs that play through my dad's car speakers.

Sweet and italian basil that became both jam and pesto!

Crisp bell peppers that just make my mouth water looking at them.

Monster green tomatoes that conjure up images of Kathy Bates wrapped in saran wrap (dear internet I sure hope you get that reference)

the hustle and bustle!

These berries were so ripe and decadent that it took every ounce of my being not to devour the whole lot of them on the spot!

confession I have never actually had an egg plant but I just adored the color, texture and the fact that they were in a cute little basket!

I love the light in this picture!

My first thought... Little Jack Horner! AKA that nursery rhyme with a plum in it which I proceeded to have to google! HA

Ahhh the first of many lovely farmers market trips for this girl!

Recipes from my love affair with my kitchen coming tomorrow!!

What a fun adventure! I love going to farmer's markets - unfortunately it's a rarity for me because of the hot Arizona weather! Can't wait to see your recipes!

That farmer's market looks so great - the ones near me aren't wonderful at all, which is too bad!

Love all your pictures of the farmers market! Those strawberries look AH-MAZING! Can't wait to see what you created with your goods! :) PS. Fried Green Tomatoes is one of my favorite movies. My favorite scene is when she crashes into the young girls car and says she has better insurance! :) classic! Hope you had a great Monday! :)

Ahh I just added this to my list of things to do ASAP. There is a farmer's market every Saturday 5 minutes from where I live...I've only kind of been once. They were closing down and I grabbed a basket of tomatoes so it doesn't really count. Love your pics! I hope you are enjoying your summer! I cannot believe it's already July.
