If we were having coffee right now, which we totally would be because this is my first real day of summer, I would use air quotes around the word "weekend" because my weekend was ridiculously long. Regardless here is my almost week long recap of my holiday "weekend"
The fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays of the year. This year Reese and I hosted a little shindig at his Aunt and Uncles BEAUTIFUL lake house, we invited a handful of friends... including ones you may recognize ,Miss Kaitlyn and "A" from Put a Bow on it, for a weekend of grilling, fireworks and other lake shenanigans!
It was SO MUCH FUN to watch my blogging world and my "real" world colide! It totally helps that both Kaitlyn and Andre and all of our Louisiana friends have close to 84739 friends in common.
I told myself that I was not going to go overboard on the decorations, it was basically my mantra for a week-- "I will not craft, I will not craft, I WILL NOT CRAFT". Guess what I did, craft. I flirted with the line of over board but I think I achieved festive with out looking like Pinterest threw up. The boys kept giving me a hard time about the decorations, because they are boys and that is what they do, and I kept demanding that I in fact did NOT go over board because I bought my "Happy 4th of July" sign instead of making it. All of that to say I am very close to needed a craft intervention.
Our friend Alexis made this PRECIOUS cake! We were all SO impressed this was definitely a Pinterest WIN!
The rest of the weekend was spent with Reese's bestest friends! Friday we recovered from July 4th, thanks goodness none of us had to work! The boys played video games and I watched Easy A and reminded myself how much of a girl crush I have on Emma Stone. Then we went out with some MORE friends visiting from Louisiana (THEY ARE EVERYWHERE, and I love it) but I was tried and lame and left at midnight and didn't take any pictures because hosting a kick ass 4th of July party is EXHAUSTING.
(also this is my frist GIF, and now I only want to blog in GIFs)
Saturday I took the boys to my version of heaven, Hubble and Hudson, to go the the Battle of the Texas Beers! We sampled beers from 12 different breweries, including one, Cedar Creek Brewery that was right down the road from me during my small town days (I cant decided if it was a good thing or bad I didn't know it was there). After the beer tasting we realized there was a huge country concert festival going on right around the corner and on a whim we decided to buy tickets and spend the rest of the day basking in the heat and sweet sounds of country music!
It was basically the perfect summer "weekend".
