Fall Tunic

Although I missed the trend that was the mullet (I rocked a killer bowl cut) I hear its tag line was something similar to "business in the front and party in the back". The mullet's iconic tag line reminds me of the tag line I am giving this outfit-- "summer on top and fall on the bottom". If you have read any other posts from Texas (or Southern for that matter) you know we don't get real seasons around these parts and so we live in the in-between and so do our wardrobes. Tunics basically fit the bill for the in-between wardrobe.

The downside to tunics are they are caught in the middle of a debate that has pitted fashion lover against fashion lover-- are leggings really pants? For the record I think they are*.

*when you wear them with with these awesome tunics.

Utility Vest Two Ways: Weekend

"What up weekenddddd", this version of my Kim Possible vest basically screams it which come Friday at 4:15 I'm all for. Since weekend here in deep South Texas don't dip below 80 until at least November 1st jean shorts and a tee are still considered fall apparel, but I do like to "fall up" my weekend wardrobe much like my work attire so on goes the vest. Long necklace, favorite strappy sandals and i'm outtie to run errands, meet up with friends, save the world with a Naked Mole Rat, whatever.

Have I adequately convinced you that you need a utility vest? Cause you do. K cool!

Utility Vest Two Ways: Work

This vest makes me feel like Kim Possible and I am totally ok with it.  So ok with it in fact that I am styling this utility vest two ways this week. I am well aware the Kimmy was rocking the early 2000's cargo PANTS (which you can bet your bottom dollar I had... in two colors), but this vest and Ms. Possible's pants have one thing in common-- POCKETS, lots of pockets. And if there is anything I love more than a good late 90's/Early 2000's saturday morning cartoon comparison it is pockets.

For me work is a fairly casual affair for me so this chambray dress a là target is a staple in my wardrobe but I needed to fall it up a bit to match all things pumpkin being sold about town (ooey-gooey pumpkin bars at Williams Sonoma the other day. I die.) My Kim Possible utility vest and booties did the trick.

On a hair note and a early 2000's note... I don't know how I did the two polo shirt posed collar thing with my hair cause I get real hot and all like "MY HAIR IS EATING MY NECK" when I wear two collars now (not popped of course... still in the process of burning all those pictures).  So in a braid those little blonde babies went.  Also I think Andy Cohen would be really proud of my half braid half side pony thing I'm working lately.

Kim Possible, Pumpkin, Double Popped Collars, and Andy Cohen... so yeah that just happened. Also shout out to the Naked Mole Rat, cause duh he was the coolest part of that show.

Double Also... you're welcome

Call me beep me if you wanna reach me?

Stamp of Approval

I am a serial stamp of approval giver. On the spectrum of a Lily Stamp to a Ted Stamp ( How I Met your Mother " The Stamp Tramp") I lean pretty heavily to the Ted side. I LOVE everything or this or that is the BEST EVER. Although I give my stamp of approval a lot, a stamp tramp if you will, I really do love everything I stand behind. I don't like to waste my time or my money on stuff that is just ok so all of my stamps have been thoughtfully vetted.

Take this extremely random list of the products I have acquired recently that I can no longer live with out (well one I rediscovered but...);

1. Wet Brush  The depths of loathing I had for brushing and blow drying my wet hair were so deep that I am pretty sure they had 8 layers instead of Dantes original 7, but after I tried this brush (that I picked up from Target) I now find JOY, JOY I tell you in brushing my wet hair... the waking up early enough to take a shower and do my hair part is now the part I am working on.

2. Mario Badescu   I was the girl with the 8 half empty (and yes they were most definitely half EMPTY) bottles of cash wash and acne potions and lotions under her counter. NO MORE. Mario Badescu has been a God send. Use one product, use two, use eight they are a lll GREAT.
PS Reese uses this line too and equally loves it as much as I do.

3.  Too Faced Soleli Bronzer: Its the trick to Kim Kardashian style contouring (love her or hate her homegirl can contour) and it smells like chocolate. Kardashian contouring and chocolate... no more need for convincing.

4. Seamless Footies: I picked these little footies from Banana Republic because I needed $4 to get a discount on my purchase and I am so glad I picked these babies up. Never in my life have I loved a sock more!

5. dough scraper: I've been on a veggie kick--like two weeks ago I kinda just forgot to add any meat to my meals, so having this dough scraper to pick up all the veggies that have been sliced and diced by my knives has been awesome!

6. Eucalyptus Mint Room Spray: Last year I got really into essential oils (I still am for the record) and I diffused some peppermint in my room and proceeded to feel like I lived at the North Pole for a week and a half. Bath and Body Eucalyptus Mint room spray (...and lotion, and body wash, and candle) took me out of the North Pole and back to just a simply relaxing space.

7. Stella McCartney Fragrance: This is the product I rediscovered. I wore this perfume in high school. In fact I had a little roll on vile of the stuff that broke in my prom handbag so all night it is all I smelled --good thing it smells amazing. I rediscovered it recently and now have an irresistible urge to want to frolic at high school dances all the time now (NOT, I just forgot how great it smells)

There you go party people, Meg's newest approved products!

Nordstrom The Woodlands Grand Opening Gala

"Is it open?" "It's finally open!" "Wait, I thought it was opening in (insert month that is not this month here)." These are just a few of the questions I got when I mentioned the Nordstroms Gala I attended this past Wednesday night for the opening of the newest Nordstrom store located at The Woodlands Mall in The Woodlands Texas. Clearly the excitement around this new store is palpable in our sweet little slice of Houston. The store is goose bump inducing beautiful-- clean, sleek and modern with an overwhelming amount of class. Exactly what you expect from a store with such a storied history of elegance.

The two story store boasts clean lines of glass, stunning white interior walls, subtle modern neon lighting, and wood planked ceilings. The merchandise, nestled between colorful artwork and plush seating areas, create a warm and welcoming environment to juxtapose the large white open main areas. All of that to say I am moving in. I mean the handbag section alone is the size of my whole apartment and who needs a bed when you are surrounded by Kate, and Rebecca, and Michael (spoiler alert, the answer is no one-- Kate is always the answer, always)?

Clothing and Accessories

The clothes, shoes and accessories only slightly beat out the decor for reasons I am never leaving this place. A mix of household name staples and edgy-chic labels use the expanse of the second floor. There is literally something for everyone. I was particularly happy to see a rather large Topshop section (Princess Kate, y'all)  that I will be frequenting, I am sure, too often. Of course there wide array of jean styles, sizes and brands (and free alterations--where my shorties at!?) is a welcome addition to our mall. The first floor is devoted to the jewelry, handbags, shoes, make up and the mens wares (and bow ties!) that make me go a little weak in the knees. All in all the stores merchandise is organized beautifully, thoughtfully curated and all going in my closet.

The Gala

I was honored to have the privilege of being a media guest of Reward Style to this exquisite party. In tandem with Texas Children's Hospital Nordstom The Woodlands raised over $175,000 to help support the new Woodland campus of Texas Children's-- if that isn't a reason to party I don't know what else is (oh well of course we always party for new shoes, but that is an unspoken rule of womanhood). Champagne carts were wheeled around grand stands of short ribs and squash soups, though trays of macaroons and chocolate dipped oatmeal cookies. A seriously rocking band provided the musical backdrop for the sipping and shopping. While cheeky signs and social media main stays reminded us all that this company knows how to treat its customers.

Thank you to Scott Cooper of Reward Style and Ashley of The Fancy Ashley for making the night even better than a normal shopping trip to a brilliant store should be.

No Nordstrom grand openings to attend? How rude Nordstrom! Clearly they love you because ONLINE SHOPPING, Y'all!

Join all the grand opening fun by following along on social media!

A Wrap Dress to Welcome Me Back

It's hard to come back from a break. Tomorrow always seemed like the best day to come back to this space, but tomorrow never came. I got a little push from the fashion gods with an invite to the grand opening gala of the new Nordstrom. I decided to throw on this retro inspired BCBG (via Veronika's Blog Sale) dress with its cumber bun wrap dress waist and butterfly sleeves and venture back out into the world. I will be back with a recap of the event (spoiler alert-- I want to be buried there), but right now I'll just say Hi! I'm glad i'm back and I love you all mucho.
